"Major" Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel, Handsome Collection Updates Detailed

Gearbox has detailed a number of "major" updates for Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which contain "bug fixes, performance improvements, and more."

The updates are now available on all platforms, including previous-gen consoles. For Borderlands 2, highlights include "balance changes and refinements to elemental-based skills (read: Maya buffs), adding The Fastball to Boll's loot pool, making the legendary drop rate improvements permanent, and more." Take a look at the full list of changes to Borderlands 2 here.

For Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the update contains "mostly bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as making the legendary drop rate improvements permanent." Full patch notes for the game can be found here.

Finally, the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection update contains all of the changes above to Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Additionally, a number of "quality-of-life features, bug fixes, and performance improvements specific to The Handsome Collection" are included. Xbox One specific multiplayer connectivity issues are also addressed. The full patch notes are here.

In January, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford announced a new Borderlands game, calling it "the big one." Take-Two president Karl Slatoff later confirmed it is being developed "specifically for next-gen consoles."

Gearbox hasn't said whether the new Borderlands game is Borderlands 3 or a spin-off, but calling it the "big one" indicates it will be a numbered entry. As of yet a release date has not been announced for the game.
