We're Getting a New Transformers Movie Every Year Until 2019

With Star Wars locked into a schedule of a film a year, and Marvel and DC both delivering two superhero movies every 12 months, competition between the big movie properties has never been hotter. As reported by The Wrap, the studio has announced the release dates for the next three movies in the giant robot saga. Transformers 5 will open on June 23, 2017, with Transformers 6 and 7 following on June 8, 2018, and June 28, 2019 respectively.

"I still have a great time," he told Rolling Stone. "It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else. It's time to move on. One more."

In October last year, Hasbro Studios president Steven J. Davis revealed that a team of writers had mapped out a decade's worth of storylines. "They plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers," he said. "Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital."

In total, the four previous Transformers movies have earned more than $3.7 billion worldwide. Transformers: Age of Extinction saw Mark Wahlberg take over as the lead actor, and he will return for Transformers 5.
