Captain America: Civil War Passes $200 Million, and It's Not Even Out in the US Yet

Marvel's new superhero movie Captain America: Civil War is a huge hit internationally. It debuted this past week in a number of international markets, and now it's been confirmed that the film has brought in $200.2 million from 37 offshore regions-all ahead of the US release. .

According to Deadline, which supplied the numbers, this is "just behind" the international release box office numbers of Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. It may have fallen behind that film, but it's still a record-breaker.

In Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines, Civil War set all-time opening-weekend records. The top international markets for Civil War were Korea ($28.9 million), Mexico ($20.6 million), the UK ($20.5 million), Brazil ($12.3 million) and Australia ($10.9 million).

Comparing to other Marvel superhero movies, Civil War came in 5 percent below Age of Ultron, but 26 percent ahead of Iron Man 3 and The Avengers, while it started 157 percent better than Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when looking at the same markets and using the latest exchange rates.

Head to Deadline to see a full box office breakdown for Civil War's international release. The $200 million opening for Civil War is not a total surprise, as that was the estimated figure cited in reports earlier this week.

Civil War comes to the US this Friday, May 6. For more, check out GameSpot's spoiler-free video review above, while you can see a new Black Panther vs. Bucky Barnes fight clip here.
