Ryan Reynolds Auditioned for a Coen Brothers Movie and It Didn't Go So Well

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he auditioned for a role in a movie from acclaimed directors Joel and Ethan Coen--but it could have gone better. In a new episode of Variety's Actors on Actors, Reynolds said he tried out for a role in the brothers' second most recent film, which would have been Inside Llewyn Davis, which told the story of a struggling musician.

"My last audition was...I auditioned and failed for the Coen brothers," he said (via Entertainment Weekly). "It was terrible. It was OK, it just wasn't the right fit, unfortunately. Mostly because they're very high-class.

"In the room, they were just quietly shaking their heads. Like, 'What are you doing here? Do you have a card, or do you have the Canadian version?' 'How did you get here?'"

Reynolds didn't say what part he auditioned for. Inside Llewyn Davis' lead role went to Oscar Isaac, who went on to star in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the pilot Poe Dameron.

The Coen brothers have made a number of celebrated movies, including Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Reynolds will play Deadpool again in the movie's upcoming sequel.
