Inti Creates releasing 8-bit game Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon this month

Inti Creates has announced a release date for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, the 8-bit action game which was a stretch goal for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will release later this month on 3DS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, Vita, and Xbox One.

The 8-bit retro-style action game was developed by game creator Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates.

In the game, players will take on the role of demon slayer Zangetsu. The player will travel through “perilous lands to defeat a powerful demon,” holed up in a foreboding dark castle. Along the way, three fellow travelers will join Zangetsu, and each are playable characters.

Each character has their own unique abilities, and will unlock new paths through the various game stages. Recruitment choices matter, as each character will directly effect the difficulty of the game, and possibly affect the ending.

Inti Creates put its Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night game on Kickstarter in 2015. At one time it was the most funded game on the crowd funding service, until Shenmue 3 came along.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is free to eligible Kickstarter backers. Everyone else will be able to pick it up digitally on May 24 for $9.99 or the regional equivalent.
