Oggi darò un breve giudizio su De Blob 2, sequel del particolare platform della compianta THQ che vede come protagonista un eroe multi-colore ed uno sparuto gruppo di ribelli che combatte contro un malvagio dittatore che vuole rendere il mondo intero grigio e senza alcuna personalità.

Rispetto al primo titolo, De Blob 2 è un leggero passo avanti a livello visivo, sia per la qualità dei colori stessi, molto più accesi che nel primo titolo, sia per la direzione artistica e la varietà di locazioni presenti nel gioco. Essendo un titolo multipiattaforma, la versione Wii è quella meno impressionante graficamente e soffre anche di un leggero effetto pop out. Fortunatamente il gioco è comunque piacevole agli occhi, soprattutto quando si comincia a tempestare tutto di colori.

Il gameplay è molto semplice. A blob basterà toccare qualsiasi superficie per cospargerla del colore di cui è composto al momento. I diversi livelli del gioco sono divisi in sfide a tema che chiederanno al giocatore di dipingere diverse strutture di un colore specifico, salvare dei poveri cittadini, abbattere diversi nemici e così via. Mentre il primo titolo cadeva verso una leggera ripetitività, questo sequel offre una gamma di situazioni molto più diversificata, soprattutto nella seconda metà del gioco, dove la difficoltà e la frenesia di quest'ultimo, unito al limite di tempo di ogni livello danno un vero e proprio sapore arcade all'esperienza del giocatore.

Mentre la storia è naturalmente molto prevedibile, le scenette di intermezzo tra un livello e l'altro sono molto carine, mentre la musica riprende lo stile molto funky del primo gioco, dando dei brani orecchiabili che diventano più scatenati man mano che si colora l'intero livello.

Nonostante un paio di leggeri problemi, come delle sezioni platforming poco precise e grafica molto inferiore rispetto alle versioni HD, De Blob 2 è un titolo davvero simpatico, perfetto per chi è fan di giochi di piattaforme. Se lo vedete in giro dategli una possibilità! Ho sentito che entrambi i titoli della serie saranno rilasciati su Steam, è una buona occasione per provarli!

Today I give a brief judgement on De Blob 2, sequel of a peculiar platform from the late THQ that tells about a multi-coloured hero and a small group of rebels who fight against a mean dictator who wants to make the entire world dull and grey.

Compared to the first title, De Blob 2 has slightly better visuals, both for the quality of the colours, which are much nrighter than in the previous game and for a better art direction as well as more varied locations. Being a multiplatform title, the Wii version is the less impressive-looking one and also suffers of a slight pop-out effect. Fortunately the game is still pleasant to the eye, especially when everything starts getting stormed with colours.

The gameplay is very simple. Blob will only have to touch any surface to spread the colour he's currently using. The different levels of the game are split in many challenges that will ask the player to colour some structures of a specific colour, save some poor citizen, defeat enemies and more. While the first title was kinda leaning toward a certain level of repetitivity, this sequel offers a much more varied number of situations, especially in the second half of the game, where the difficulty and the frenesy of the game, mixed with the time limit of the levels, gives an arcade-like flavour to the experience of the player.

While the story is understandably predictable, the little scenes between a level and the other are really cute, while the music retains the funky style of the first title, giving quite catchy tunes, which get richer and richer as the plyer colours the entire level.

Despite a few problems, like the quite sloppy platforming sections and the inferior graphics if compared to the HD versions, De Blob 2 is a very nice title, perfect for who's a fan of the platforming genre. If you see it around, give it a chance! I heard both games of the series are gonna get released on Steam, might be a good occasion to try them out!
