Nuevo Paraiso Discovery - Datamining

I absolutely think the addition of Mexico (alongside more New Austin content) was contemplated during development, but then said development times became so biblical, they decided to focus on the northern regions only, especially considering the insane amount of things to discover dotted around the map.

This would totally explain why New Austin is absolutely gorgeous graphically, but basically free of any remarkable features and completely free of content.

PS4 version 1.0

Do you mean this models/codes exist since game released? or from recently updated files?

Since PS4 Version 1.00 (release)

Gray Fox: I'm like you, I have no name.

Being low-poly models, I guess they were supposed to be placed at their respective locations, as in Redemption of 2010, which can only be viewed from distance, similar to the El Presidio military fort.

This is not really a new find, nor something that needed datamining. This location is accessible in the game (by glitching to mexico)

Here's a video where someone explores this area:

That's the only building (fort) that is in-game. The others are not in-game.

The question I'm wondering is, have they removed them since v1.00? Does the PC version still have them or not? If they have removed them, it would be interesting. Could either be because they have no plans to add NP, or secondly because they do plan to, and dont want people like you guys finding evidence of it! 😂

The meta data file for those interested has a date/time but most of the file was encrypted though.

There was another RPF that has all the forts and towns in one LOD model, interesting. That one file weighs at 1.4MB.

While looking this morning, I missed a model :)

On another note, I've found slightly higher resolution LOD textures.

Well sh*t, even the illusion of mexico would be nice. I wonder why they disabled every place except El Presidio

I wondered the same. Maybe because it's the closest to New Austin, so they decided that it had to be there. In Redemption of 2010, You can see Chuparosa, other towns and outposts from NA. It wasn't worth the effort of creating the illusion and thus it was later dropped? It'd be a reasonable answer, but it's a strange one when considering that it's R* which is known for being obsessive in regard to small details.

June 2018 is pretty close to release for something that isn’t in the game. Wonder if it is something they are still working on?

Especially because the printed material (I’m thinking of the official guide book and the foldout map in the game box) probably had substantial lead-in times. It takes a lot of time to write and design a coffee-table style book and get it printed up and bound, and shipped. The official guide book to RDR2 does not look a rush job.

The guide was in stores in October 2018. Someone must have signed off approval on the final draft of the text for it at least a month before it was available, probably even longer, sometime over the summer. Which makes June even closer.

because Presidio is the only location you can actually see (in detail) from New Austin.

Post has been updated with a little bit of more findings from today, I think that's it for now but if anything else comes up, I'll be sure to post. :)

Is it possible those textures are left over from rdr1?

It looks like some textures have updated whilst some haven't after looking at some comparisons, but some texture work has definitely been done.

Seems they may of had a few artists working on it but then we're pulled off it to work on other stuff early on.

So I'm wandering through mexico today, cuz this topic inspired me to screw around down there, and much to my extreme surprise I scared a single tiny bird off of a cactus on the far south side near sidewinder gulch due south of the I in River. Its the only other living creature I've seen out here so far

I wonder how much work it would be for them to actually bring Mexico fully into the same and release a remastered RDR original expansion for RDR2. These models suggest, not much.

The danger unfortunately is that all their map artists are now fully devoted to GTA VI.
