Square Enix E3 2018: Dragon Quest 11, Babylon's Fall, The Quiet Man -all the news here
Square Enix aired its pre-recorded E3 2018 presentation this afternoon. Get caught up on everything here.
Square decided not to discuss Final Fantasy 7 Remake today, as we had hoped, but there were a couple of really great announcements.
One was The Quiet Man. No, it's not based on that John Wayne movie where he plays a boxer and falls in love with a feisty, utterly gorgeous Maureen O'Hara. It's a story-driven, cinematic experience starring a deaf man that can be completed in a single sitting. The trailer starts out in live-action before transitioning to an in-game action sequence where our hero fights a pair of gangsters.
More details are expected in August and it is slated for release on PC and PS4 in 2019.
A new game from Platinum Games was announced during Square Enix’s E3 2018 press conference. It’s called Babylon’s Fall, and like The Quiet Man, we know next to nothing about it. Not even the official website tells us anything, but it looks rather great.
Babylon’s Fall is set for release in 2019 on PC and PlayStation 4.
Another look at the Kingdom Hearts 3, Octopath Traveler and the Neir: Automata Become as Gods videos were shown, along with a new one for Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Dragon Quest 11 is coming to PC and PS4 in September, and Square showed a lovely trailer for it along with information on two special editions. A cross-over event between Final Fantasy 14 Online and Monster Hunter World was also announced. The MMO is also getting a new update called Under The Moonlight.
Just Cause 4 made an appearance during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing, and we were given another look at it today.
Nothing on Life is Strange 2 was provided. Instead, the focus was on The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. It is a standalone story in the Life is Strange universe and was revealed during the Xbox show.
Square’s new studio, Luminous Productions was absent from the show. Luminous Productions is headed up by FF15 boss Hajime Tabata with top-tier talent from FF15’s staff. Whatever is in the works at the studio will surely be interesting
Crystal Dynamics’ The Avengers Project is something we were crossing our fingers on, sadly, the game announced in 2017 and was not shown but will be at some point this year.
E3 2018 officially kicked off today, Monday, June 11, but separate presentations ahead of the conference were already held.
After the Square Enix E3 2018 presentation aired, the Ubisoft E3 2018 presentation kicked off. Sony’s E3 2018 presentation will close things out later this evening.
Tomorrow, Nintendo will host its own pre-recorded Nintendo Direct.
