E3 2018: here's our very first look at gameplay from The Surge 2

The Surge 2 was announced back in February with a 2019 release target.

Deck13 and Focus demoed The Surge 2 behind closed doors at E3 this week, and a few minutes of footage came out of the event.

The gameplay, seen below via IGN, shows a forest environment that's quite different from the factory and assembly halls of the first game. The HUD elements for health, stamina and energy have been moved to the bottom.

The action appears faster, and the player is seen using a two-handed weapon while donning an all-new suit of armour. The snappier dodge and faster character movement appear to also apply to enemies, as the one in the demo is particularly quick and brutal.

Being able to finish off an enemy with a stylish, gruesome move also returns.

Towards the end of the video, we get a look at one the boss fights in the game. There appears to be less of reliance on gimmicks for the fight compared to the first game, so this could be something to look forward to.

We do not yet know what Deck13 plans to change in The Surge 2, or really any of the game's main features. We do know, however, that it'll feature new environments.

The Surge 2 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019.
