Uncharted 4's Main Themes Revealed

In a new interview, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End co-director Neil Druckmann sheds new light on the action-adventure game's themes. Specifically, he says the PlayStation 4 game will dive into Nathan Drake's personal dilemma between following his passion and spending time with the people he cares for.

"With Uncharted 4, as we were building it we were realizing more and more what the theme is: it's that balance between pursuing your passions and being with the ones you love, and what happens when you have to choose between those two things," Druckmann said in the latest issue of OPM (via PSU).

He added: "Is there a way to reconcile that? That's the message of this game, and everything is constructed around that very simple concept."

The upcoming game is the final entry in the series to star Nathan Drake. Looking to the future, Naughty Dog hasn't ruled out an Uncharted 5, but says it's "hard to imagine" the franchise without Drake.

Uncharted 4 launches on March 18 exclusively for PS4. You won't have to wait that long to play an Uncharted game on PS4, however, as The Nathan Drake Collection debuts in early October. This bundle includes remastered versions of the franchise's three PlayStation 3 games and also comes with access to the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta, which starts in December.

In other recent news about Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog has explained why delaying the game from 2015 to 2016 was the right move.
