Heroes of the Storm Matchmaking System Being "Completely Refactored"

Following its announcement of new Heroes of the Storm characters, maps, and modes on Friday, Blizzard has now revealed that major changes are coming to the PC game's matchmaking system.

During a presentation at BlizzCon today, Blizzard announced that the matching program is being "completely refactored to make better, closer matches."

Game director Dustin Browder said the current matchmaking system for Heroes of the Storm--which involved a lot of swapping--was "too stressful" and "not very fun," according to Kotaku. The new system, on the other hand, puts players into queues and relies less on swapping.

The Heroes of the Storm matchmaking changes are slated to arrive before the end of the year, possibly as soon as sometime in the next few weeks.

Also during the presentation, Blizzard announced that bans are coming to ranked draft lobbies, while a Grandmaster League is in the planning stages. On top of that, Blizzard says "talent gating" will be totally removed from Heroes of the Storm through a future patch.
