ARK: Survival Evolved will add local split-screen co-op on Xbox One

ARK: Survival Evolved on Xbox One will be a bit more special.

On Xbox One, ARK: Survival Evolved will support local, split-screen co-op for two players. Developer Studio Wildcard confirmed this to Gamespot, saying that it currently has no plans for online split-screen.

ARK: Survival Evolved was released yesterday on Xbox One, but the split-screen feature is planned for release sometime in 2016.

“Many developers are abandoning split-screen local play, but we couldn't stomach that for Ark!” creative director and co-founder Jesse Rapczak told the site.

“Friends and families can look forward to working together to survive the environment, tame its inhabitants and unravel the mysteries of the island–all from the same couch.”

The feature is exclusive to Xbox One, at least early on. Also an Xbox One feature is the ability to host your server on a second console.

The game's full release is planned for June, 2016.
