Watch Smite's Gorgeous Cinematic Trailer

In celebration of the start of the Smite World Championship later this week, developer Hi-Rez Studios has released a new cinematic trailer for the free-to-play PC and Xbox One MOBA. The video is titled "To Hell & Back" and it uses the song "Sockets" by the band Slaves. It's a pretty slick video. Check it out below.

The Smite World Championship starts Thursday, January 7.

Some of the best players in the world will compete in tournaments for the PC and Xbox One editions. The PC version's prize pool is $1 million, while the console tournament sees players battling for $150,000.

The event will be broadcast live on Twitch, starting with a keynote address January 7 at 11 AM EST. In addition to tournament gameplay, Hi-Rez will make "several" announcements about Smite, as well as the developer's FPS game Paladins and the upcoming mobile game Jetpack Fighter.

In other Smite news, to celebrate the start of the tournament, Hi-Rez has marked down Smite's in-game Ultimate God Pack for PC ($20) and Xbox One ($22.50). This includes all present and future characters. Players who already bought some characters will receive a refund based on how many they own.
