Heroes of the Storm Adds Character Who Switches Between Ranged, Melee Attacks
Heroes of the Storm's latest update is now available, the main component of which is a new character unlike any currently in the game.
Greymane is an assassin-class character who can switch between human and worgen forms with the use of an ability. The human form's basic attacks are used from range, while the worgen form's basic attacks are melee. The latter sounds disadvantageous, but melee basic attacks do 40 percent more damage, offering a serious incentive to get up close and personal.
The video above runs down Greymane's abilities, which include a ranged attack that hits an enemy and then does greater damage to enemies behind them (making it ideal for hitting backline targets). Another ability increases his attack speed and is refreshed through basic attacks. Finally, he has an ability that causes him to switch forms, either rolling away (when turning into a human) or jumping at an enemy (when turning into a worgen).
The latter is similar to one of his heroic abilities, which jumps at an enemy and does a large amount of damage. If it kills the target, it can then be used a second time for free within the following 10 seconds. The other heroic you can opt for is done from the human form, marking an enemy as vulnerable and then allowing you to jump to the target in worgen form.
Other than the addition of Greymane, there's little else of note in this update. Its release officially marked the end of the Winter Veil event, and the Cho'gall special event has also ended; the character is now for sale through the store like other characters.
In terms of balance, nothing has been tweaked, much to the chagrin of those who continue to be overwhelmed by the strength of Tyrande. There also aren't any firm plans on what's being done on that front, but Blizzard is looking at her, Nova, the strength of towers, and a number of other things, according to recent tweets from director Dustin Browder.
