The Witness on track to sell more in one week than Braid did in a year
The Witness is officially a success.
The Witness sales have been strong enough to seriously out-perform Jonathan Blow's previous game, the indie auteur has announced.
With a few days left before the end of its first week on sale, the first-person puzzle adventure is on track to shift more copies than Braid did in a whole year. It's an impressive performance, especially given rampant piracy of The Witness.
Braid was a breakout indie hit and made Jonathan Blow a millionaire, but he then spent all of the money on The Witness, eventually going into debt to finish it.
Blow said this success ensures Thekla Inc.'s next project will command a similar budget.
