XCOM 2 Mod Adds a Puppy Gun
XCOM 2 developer Firaxis promised that its mod tools would result in "fantastic" creations from the community. Well, the first user-created mod has already been delivered, and if you felt like this alien invasion was missing a puppy, then you won't be disappointed.
Firaxis shared an image of the new mod on Twitter today. The ACORG-47 is a weapon that looks more like a Corgi puppy than an assault rifle, and you can add it to XCOM 2 via the Steam Workshop.
Steam user JonTerp created the doggy-themed assault rifle, initially planning to replace the Gremlin, a drone sidekick shown in the image above, with the dog. He apparently got frustrated and found it easier to replace the gun.
"To be honest I've been banging my head against this garbage for like 12 hours now and want to go to bed," Jon said at the time.
Jon says the mod will be receiving updates in the near future, though he doesn't seem to feel great about his creation.
"I legit feel bad that this is the first XCOM 2 mod to be released," he proclaimed.
You can bring the ACORG-47 into battle by subscribing to the mod here.
Other user-created mods already available on the modding workshop can give players free camera rotation (as opposed to the set camera angles already in the game) and a fancy top hat. You can check out all of the available mods right here.
The ACORG-47 wasn't the first mod, however, as the team behind the Long War for XCOM: Enemy Unknown worked with Firaxis to create three launch day mods for the game--the Leader Pack, the SMG Pack, and the Muton Centurion Alien Pack.
XCOM 2 received a score of 9 in GameSpot's review, which said it's exhilarating even in the face of failure.
