Rainbow Six Siege PS4/Xbox One Patch Delayed Due to "Unexpected Bug"

The latest patch for team-based tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege will not make it out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today (April 5) as previously anticipated. Ubisoft has announced that, due to the discovery of an "unexpected bug" related to queue times, the developer has decided to delay the console release.

Update 2.3 was released for PC on March 30. After its release, the development team discovered the bug that not only affected queue times but also match quality for ranked matches. A temporary fix has been released for PC, but there is still work to do to improve the experience further.

"While we have seen improvements on queue time after this update, it is not up to our standards," Ubisoft said. "We are still working on the issue and we will communicate any updates on our progress. Due to these findings from patch 2.3 on PC, we will be temporarily delaying 2.3 on console in order to resolve this issue before deployment."

Ubisoft did not provide a new release date or an estimation of a release date for the console patch.

As announced previously, Siege's 2.3 update includes balance changes, improvements, and bug fixes. With the update, Ubisoft hoped to stop spawn killing, improve ranked matchmaking, and prevent cheating. You can see the complete patch notes here in GameSpot's previous coverage.

In other news about Rainbow Six Siege, the game's upcoming expansions will reportedly be themed around operators from the United States, Brazil, and Japan.
