Uncharted 4 Getting Sony's "Largest Ever" Marketing Campaign for a Game in UK

If Uncharted 4: A Thief's End comes up short, it won't be for lack of trying on Sony's behalf. The company has announced that, in the UK at least, it is supporting the PlayStation 4-exclusive with its "largest ever" marketing campaign for a game. Sony made the announcement in the latest issue of MCV.

VideoGamer.com reports that Sony's marketing blitz for Uncharted 4 will include advertisements across print, TV, and digital sources, while there will be ads in movie theaters and on buses as well.

There will also be "innovative" in-store marketing promotions, one of which will be some kind of contraption where Nathan Drake is actually "swinging from a real rope." A rope is one of the Drake's new and heavily touted traversal tools in Uncharted 4 the game.

Sony UK also teased that it has "much more" in store in terms of marketing that it cannot talk about yet. It remains to be seen what kind of marketing push Sony USA will put behind Uncharted 4, though we'd expect it to be significant given that Uncharted is one of Sony's tentpole franchise around the world.

After multiple delays, Uncharted 4 arrives around the world on May 10.

Some people are already playing the game, however, as it appears at least one retailer in the UK has broken the street-date, something Sony denies. Additionally, a truck carrying copies of the game was overtaken by thieves in a "violent assault," with bandits getting away with "a number of copies."

In other news, a 5 GB patch for Uncharted 4 will be available at launch.
