Here's What Harry Potter's Family Looks Like 19 Years After Last Book in New Stage Play

Ahead of next week's first preview for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play, the producers today released the first images of the Potters in costume. The play is set 19 years after the events of The Deathly Hallows.

As shared on Pottermore, here is what Harry, Ginny, and Albus Severus Potter look like:

Actor Jamie Parker (Valkyrie) plays Harry in the stage show. Series creator J.K. Rowling said she was floored by his performance. "He simply is Harry now. There's a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right," she said.

Poppy Miller, who previously appeared in a Macbeth stage play, takes on the role of Ginny Potter (nee Weasley). Sam Clemmett, who plays Albus, is an accomplished actor himself, having appeared in Royal Shakespeare Company productions of Lord of the Flies and Wendy and Peter Pan.

As for Cursed Child's story, the action of the Battle of Hogwarts may be in the past, but that doesn't mean Harry and his family aren't without their problems.

"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children," reads a line from the play's description.

It continues: "While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Cursed Child is a two-part play, and is intended to be seen on the same day or on consecutive evenings, the show's website says. The preview is scheduled for June 7 in London, while the wide opening is slated for July 30.

The story was written by Rowling and playwright Jack Thorne.
