Here's When Hitman's Next One-Try-or-Fail Mission Goes Live

The next Hitman Elusive Target, a mission that players only have one shot at completing over a limited period of time, will go live this Wednesday, June 8. You'll get your shot starting at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST that day, Square Enix announced on the game's website.

This Hitman Elusive Target, the game's third, is called The Prince. The mission takes place in Sapienza, the site of Hitman's second episode. As such, you will need to own that content in order to take on the challenge, which is live for only 72 hours (the first ones were 48 hours).

Elusive Target missions are tough. The target does not show up on the game map or Instinct mode. Additionally, you only have one shot at taking down the target--and there are no do-overs.

53 percent of players successfully completed the first event, while "more than 60 percent" were successful second time around.

During a recent interview with GameSpot, lead online designer Torben Ellert suggested future Elusive Targets could be more challenging than those we've seen so far.

"We probably want the first couple at least to be quite approachable experiences, because it's really important that we make it clear that these are not impossible missions," he said. "Yes, they're tense, because if you screw up, you're finished. But they're totally doable. I think we need to keep that for the next couple, but as we go down the line, we will improve on their perceptiveness, where it makes narrative sense."

A future Elusive Target will take place in Marrakesh, the location of Hitman's third episode.
