Captain America: Civil War Directors to Remake Cult Classic The Warriors

Having set two groups of superheroes against each other the smash hit Captain America: Civil War, Joe and Anthony Russo are now looking to bring another gang showdown to the screen. It has been reported that the directing brothers are to remake the classic thriller The Warriors.

According to Deadline, the Russos are teaming with Paramount TV and Hulu to update the property as an hour-long TV pilot. A full series is expected if the pilot proves successful, although the Russos are currently only committed to that first episode.

The Warriors was originally released in 1979, directed by Walter Hill. The movie was itself based on a novel, and it is now considered to be one of the great cult classics of the late '70s.

After The Warriors, the Russos will return to Marvel for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, which is due in 2018 and 2019. The two films are being shot back-to-back, and in May Anthony Russo revealed just how complex the production process is expected to be.

"We are shooting both movies at the same time, there are so many actors involved in those films," he told Den of Geek. "I think our narrative approach on those movies in going to be very unique to a superhero film."

"One piece of the process is really important to us: that we watch and cut scenes every 48 hours," he said. "So that we're constantly assessing how the ideas are working. And if they are working, how can we make them work even better? And if they're not working, then how do we fix them?

"I think it'll be a very difficult, long shoot, because we'll constantly be shooting and assessing and reshooting and assessing."
