Meet Pokemon Go's region-exclusives: Tauros, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime and Farfetch'd
No matter what you do, you won't find these Pokemon in the wild outside of their natural habitats.
A lot of people are focused on how to catch the Legendary Pokemon that are included as part of Pokemon Go's 151-strong Pokedex, but there's some other non-legendary Pokemon that are shaping up to be pretty rare in the game: and that's because they're actually exclusive to certain regions.
If you're in Europe, for instance, Tauros is going to be as difficult to find as Articunoi, Zapdos, Moltres and Ditto – they're nowhere to be found.
Pokemon Go researchers on websites like the excellent Pokemon fan site Serebii and reddit research group The Silph Road have gone digging, and now appear confident that a scant few Pokemon aren't just more scarce in some regions of the world than others but are in fact absent entirely. Here's what you need to know:
Where to find Tauros in Pokemon Go
If you're looking for Tauros we're unfortunately not just going to be able to advise you to just head on out to a certain area as we can do for most types of Pokemon in the game.
Instead, to find this bull-like Pokemon you're going to have to be somewhere in North America. It's a normal-type Pokemon, and so spawns pretty much anywhere – but only on that continent.
Also be aware – Tauros can also hatch from 5km eggs if you're lucky!
Where to find Kangaskhan in Pokemon Go
Another Normal-type Pokemon that can generally speaking be found pretty much anywhere, Kangaskhan too is limited to one continent. It doesn't exactly take much to guess where these kangaroo-like creatures can be caught…
Yeah, you guessed it – Australia. Not just Australia, it seems, since Kangaskhan has been reported as spawning right across the Australasia region by local fans. Still – appropriate!
Like Tauros, Kangaskhan can also hatch from 5km eggs if you're lucky!
Where to find Mr. Mime in Pokemon Go
I'm not sure what the Pokemon Company and Niantic are trying to say about the people of the continent, but the always slightly freaky-looking Mr. Mime is a European-continent exclusive.
Mr. Mime is a mixed Psychic and Fairy type and so can be found pretty much anywhere that these types are found naturally. Fairy types in particular are more or less all over the place, so if you're in Europe (and yes, ha ha, that includes the UK) you should be able to track one down easily enough.
European fans get a slightly better deal than their American and Australasian cousins in that Mr. Mime is slightly harder to get from an egg, only hatching from 10km eggs.
Where to find Fatfetch'd in Pokemon Go
Fatfetch'd was the first Pokemon that fans really started to notice was common in one region and seemingly utterly absent in others. The Pokemon was first spotted in South Korea, but when the game launched in Japan it became clear that it's common across Asia in general.
Fatfetch'd is another normal type but also part flying-type. If you're in Asia, this makes parks and cities particularly likely places to find the creature – the same sort of place you'd find Fearow.
Fatfetch'd can also be hatched from a 5km egg, so cross your fingers there.

Where is Ditto in Pokemon Go?
The final missing non-legendary Pokemon in the game is Ditto. Ditto's absence is a curious thing indeed.
If you've forgotten, in the original Pokemon games Ditto is a sort of lump of stuff that morphs into the form of other Pokemon, copying them. Thus the name. Even in Pokemon Red, Blue and Green Ditto were fairly scarce in the wild, only appearing in a select few locations.
While Ditto is in the game code, a Ditto has yet to be spotted in Pokemon Go, and it's unclear how one would work with the game's stripped-back battle mechanics.
Some fans have theorised that some Pokemon out there right now are Dittos in disguise. Others think Ditto will appear as part of some event. For now, we simply don't know – but as soon as more information comes to light we'll report it.
