Watch Wasteland 3's First Gameplay Video, Featuring Vehicle Combat

With the crowdfunding campaign for Wasteland 3 beginning today, InXile Entertainment has released the first gameplay video of the new game.

It's somewhat brief at only about 2 minutes long, but it does show off the new, snowcapped setting of Colorado, one of the game's vehicles, and a dialogue-tree conversation with a cannibal named Fish-Lips. It's not a bad debut.

Vehicles are one of the major new features in Wasteland 3. These can be upgraded and used to expedite travel or transport materials. Alternatively, they can be used in combat, either for cover or as a weapon--we see crazy old Fish-Lips taken out by a vehicle-mounted machine gun at the end of the video.

Wasteland 3's crowdfunding campaign begins today, seeking a total of $2.75 million. That's almost $2 million more than the campaign for Wasteland 2 asked for, but it's happening through Fig, not Kickstarter. It's a key difference, as this will allow backers to have equity in the project. Those who back the project in the first 48 hours get a free game: horror game Stasis or turn-based RPG UnderRail. If you've backed a previous InXile project, you get a $5 discount on Wasteland 3 pledges.

In addition to vehicles, Wasteland 3 introduces support for co-op, which can even be played when one player isn't online. It also promises to have a "revamped, more fluid action system" for combat. It's slated for a simultaneous release on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Mac, and Linux.

Besides the video above, InXile released a silly, live-action video announcing the game. You can watch it below.
