Pokemon Go: buddy candy chart – how much candy each Pokemon earns as a buddy
Which Pokemon reward candy the most quickly? We break it down.
Pokemon Go: The best Buddy Pokemon to earn candy fast
Pokemon Go's newly-added Pokemon Buddy feature not only adds the ability for you to highlight one of your favourite Pokemon that you've caught by assigning them status as your ‘buddy' but also allows that Pokemon to give you some benefits: By walking with that Pokemon, you'll be rewarded candy that can then be used to evolve or power up that Pokemon or others in its species.
If you need more tips for Pokemon Go including more information on how to catch and evolve a variety of the beasts, be sure to check out the rest of our Pokemon Go guides.
Where do you get the most bang for your buck? Different Pokemon have different values, requiring you to walk further in order to get your hands on a candy. We've listed the distances you have to walk to gain a candy for each species of Pokemon below. No matter the Pokemon, the required distance will only net you one candy.
The great fan site Pokemon Go DB also goes a little deeper into this, crunching the numbers to put each Pokemon into a tier list to determine who the best buddy Pokemon in the game is in terms of earning candy. This of course goes along very well with our tier lists of the most powerful Pokemon and the most powerful moves in the game.
If you want to know a little more about the new Buddy Pokemon mechanic, hop on over to our general guide on how to use the new system and how it works. Otherwise, find the distance costs to obtain a new candy listed below, and remember you can find a much deeper dive on all this stuff over on Pokemon Go research site The Silph Road.
