PS4's Price Drops $50, Star Wars Battlefront, Black Ops 3, NHL Bundle Prices Also Reduced

PlayStation 4 consoles will be available from $349.99 in the US and $449.99 in Canada from October 9, Sony has announced. This confirms earlier reports that a $50 price cut was on the way.

"Our goal at PlayStation has always been to provide the best gameplay experiences at the best value," Sony has said. "We feel this new compelling price will open the doors to even more gamers that have yet to purchase a system."

The price cut will be reflected in upcoming bundles, including the Black Ops 3 1 TB, Star Wars Battlefront, and NHL 16 packages. A full list of bundles, along with their new North American and Canadian prices, can be found below.

At TGS 2015, Sony announced a price cut for the PS4 in Japan. Following the event, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said he expected a PS4 price cut in North America, possibly in time for the holidays, and has proven to be correct.

The PS4 launched in November 2013 for $400, and has remained at this price until now. By comparison, the Xbox One debuted at $500 (with a Kinect camera), but later dropped to $400 and then again to $350 where it stands today for the base model without the Kinect.

Sony is expected to have a press conference at the Paris Game Show later this month.
