Until Dawn Could Add Virtual Reality DLC, Report Says

Sony is performing market tests in the UK for new Until Dawn DLC called "Rush of Blood" which, according Destructoid, is a first-person on-rails shooter designed to work for PlayStation VR.

The site claims to have received an email, which it says has been "verified and confirmed through a second independent source," describing the experience.

"Well you get transported around inside a mine cart; it's very literally an on-rails experience," the email explains. "There are a few scattered jump scares, as you'd expect, but I played the same 20 minute section twice (once with DualShock 4, once with dual Move controllers), so I'm hoping the full DLC is a lot more padded out"

It continues: "It starts off shooting targets in the snow, then moves toward a house and as you get deeper into the house, enemies start appearing (I believe they were Wendigos). The frequently reused jumpscare is the 'ghost' from inside the house in Until Dawn, who you end up fighting for the final area I played. Upon killing the ghost, the game would crash every time."

Until Dawn producer Pete Samuels previously said fans hoping for a PlayStation VR version of the game shouldn't hold their breath as it's not happening.

"PlayStation VR cropped up in conversation a few times during development but no, we don't expect that there'll be an edition of the Until Dawn story to be playable in VR anytime soon," he explained.
"Not unless somebody has a sudden rush of blood!"

The mention of a "rush of blood" suggests the studio may have already been thinking about spinning-off a VR experience from the core game. Neither Sony nor Supermassive games have officially confirmed the DLC yet, however.

GameSpot scored Until Dawn an 8/10. Samuels has said the game's sales "definitely surpassed expectations," and teased that developer Supermassive Games is thinking about Until Dawn 2, though he admitted that it's "a little early" to talk specifics.
