Bethesda Warns Against Using Fallout 4 PC Console Commands

Fallout 4 players have used the game's PC console commands so far to discover a secret developer room and a harpoon-style gun. But developer Bethesda has now warned against using console commands.

Asked by a fan on Twitter if console players could ever expect console commands to be available someday, Bethesda marketing manager Pete Hines replied, "Nope."

He added: "Use of the console is not supported or recommended on PC. that kind of thing isn't permitted on consoles anyway."

Another fan asked why use of the console commands is not recommended. Hines said doing so can "very easily mess up save games," which could be a particularly painful problem as Fallout 4 is such a big game.

If that doesn't scare you away, you can check out GameSpot's roundup of the best Fallout 4 console commands here, including God Mode, Super Jump, Super Running Speed, and many more.

Fallout 4 launched on November 10 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bethesda shipped 12 million copies to retailers on launch day, though it's unclear how many have actually been sold through to consumers. The first of Fallout 4's patches arrives next week in beta for PC. In other news, people are dressing up cats in Fallout clothing, while this parody video explains how Fallout 4 is ruining lives. Players have also created characters based on Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Louis C.K.
