Brutal Legend Dev Remembers Lemmy Kilmister

Legendary rocker Lemmy Kilmister died on Monday just days after discovering he had an aggressive form of cancer, the band reported last night. Tributes from musicians have poured in--and now, Brutal Legend developer Double Fine has offered its own response about the passing of the Motörhead founding member.

— Double Fine (@DoubleFine) December 29, 2015A character based on Kilmister, named Kill Master, was featured in Double Fine's metal-themed action game Brutal Legend. Kilmister voiced this character, who was also a bassist.

Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lita Ford also make appearances in the game.

The Rock Band and Rocksmith Twitter accounts also offered their own condolences.

— Rocksmith (@Rocksmithgame) December 29, 2015Ian Kilmister, known best by his stage name Lemmy, learned of his "extremely aggressive" form of cancer on December 26. He died two days later in Los Angeles, according to CBS News. He was 70.

"We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren't words," reads a line from the band's statement. "We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy's music LOUD."

According to Motörhead's statement, Lemmy was playing a video game when he died.

"He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made its way down the street, with his family," it said.
