Star Wars Battlefront Hotfix Addresses Ranking, Crashing Problems

Following this week's massive Star Wars Battlefront patch that added Outer Rim expansion content and made a host of gameplay changes, developer DICE has now pushed out a new update for the game that addresses a ranking problem.

Specifically, a bug allowed some players to instantly level up to the new cap of 60, a DICE community manager explained in the game's forums. For these players, the game would crash after the completion of every round. Obviously, this is not how it was supposed to work.

For players affected by this bug, the hotfix resets their rank to what it should be. The game's servers were offline for 30 minutes to address the problem.

"We apologize for any inconvenience but this step is necessary so that you can properly gain levels again and avoid crashes at the end of rounds," DICE said.

The Outer Rim expansion for Battlefront is available now for people who have the game's Season Pass and will be released for everyone else on April 5. Three further add-ons will follow, including Bespin (summer 2016), Death Star (fall 2016), and an untitled expansion coming in early 2017.

Though Outer Rim is only available for Season Pass owners, all players benefited from the March 22 patch. Among other things, it added a spectator mode and redesigned the multiplayer menu with the aim of helping players get into matches more quickly. It also made lots of weapon and vehicle balance changes.
