Destiny 2 gameplay shows off Treasure Maps and Adventures on the map, discusses Locked Loadouts and more

Destiny 2 is introducing a stack of new systems and situations. Let's take a look.

Some new Destiny 2 footage dropped via IGN today and Arekkz has gone over it with his usual attention to detail.

Perhaps the most interesting bit was a discussion of Locked Loadout modifiers. New to Destiny 2, activities with Locked Loadouts won't allow you to change up your gear mid-mission, so no more switching between rocket launchers and swords as the situation calls for.

We get a look at a new location that looks very similar to the Speaker's abode in the first Destiny – but wrecked and ruined. We know that Destiny 2 starts with an attack on the Tower and Last City, so maybe we're looking at the aftermath – although to me it looks a bit too old.

Another environmental shot shows some sort of glowing rock or crystal of some kind – is this something to do with Destiny 2's Flashpoint activity?

Still on the locations theme, we get a look at the Nessus map. Destiny 2 has a proper in-game map and include icons guiding you to activities, and we get to see an example of an Adventure and a Treasure Maps, two new activity types. There are all kinds of icons to wonder about while we're there, including public events and what may be landing zones.

There's also a look at some ships with more interesting paint jobs than we've seen before – it looks like your ship in Destiny 2 can have sigils on it.

It's also possible that we've been quietly introduced a brand new exotic, but unfortunately we can't do much more than guess about it. We'll tentatively add it to our list of Destiny 2 Exotics.
