Orange Suit Kid's mom is also suing Epic Games over a Fortnite emote

Epic Games being sued by someone over emotes in Fortnite is becoming a trend. This time, the suit is over the company's use of the Orange Justice dance.

The mother of Fortnite player Orange Shirt Kid is suing Epic Games over its use of her son's dance in the game as an emote.

She's basically taking a page out of the Backpack Kid suit, but this particular filing is a bit different. Unlike the Flossing suit, or 2 Milly's, and Fresh Prince's Alfonso Ribeiro, Orange Suit Kid submitted his dance as part of the Boogie Down contest back in April 2018.

Originally submitted as The Random, Orange Suit Kid's entry didn't win the contest. However, Fortnite players started a petition calling for it to be added, gaining 14,458 signatures in the process (thanks, Massively OP).

Epic eventually put his dance in the game, and dubbed it the Orange Justice dance. Enter mom stage left with a court filing claiming: “copyright infringement, misappropriation of the dance move and unfairly profiting from Orange Shirt Kid's creative expression and likeness without consent.”

Variety reports she is represented by lawfirm Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP, which so happens to be the same law firm representing 2 Milly, actor Alfonso Ribeiro, and Backpack Kid.
