Destiny Xur update: should you buy The 4th Horseman?

Xur's gift on Black Friday to all Destiny players is an Exotic shotgun.

The 4th Horseman, one of the Year 1 Exotic weapons that made its way into Year 2, is on sale this weekend at Xur's.

The 4th Horseman goes into your special weapon slot and does elemental Arc damage. According to our Destiny expert Alex, this isn't a top-tier Exotic. It has low impact for a shotgun, and a slow reload speed after you've fired all your shots.

The Thunderer perk allows it to be fired in full auto, which somewhat compensates for the not-so-hot impact, but not so much for its lack of range. Then there's its elemental damage, Arc, which will be useful whenever you need a weapon with Arc burn, such as in a Nightfall.

In short, unless you need an Arc damage shotty (PvP or PvE) that can be fired in full auto, this is maybe a pass.
