Destiny Xur update: should you buy Telesto?

Remember Telesto, the cool-looking Fusion Rifle?

Xur's visit to the tower has already begun. He brought a Fusion Rifle along with him today, Telesto.

Being a Fusion Rifle already puts Telesto at a disadvantage. Fusion rifles are not go-to weapons in PvP, and they're outclassed by most other weapon types in PvE. However, the weapon is fun to use because it's a little bit like the Needler from Halo, it even has purple colour highlights.

Though you can find use for Fusion Rifles in PvP, even then, Telesto is not a top pick.

It fires projectiles that latch onto enemies and do damage over time, so it's a bit different from regular Fusion Rifles. This could make for some interesting play-styles, if you're not looking to necessarily do the most damage.

It also does Void damage which will help with Nightfalls whenever Void Burn is active.

In short, it's not top-tier. You will enjoy using it, so maybe pick it up for some PvE fun, but that's about it.
