Doom's Next Free Update Now Available, Adds Deathmatch and Private Matches
The third free update for Doom has been released on all platforms, further fleshing out the game's multiplayer and fixing some issues with the campaign.
As previously announced, the major additions here are for multiplayer. You can finally do away with team games and play a free-for-all multiplayer mode: classic Deathmatch. Demon Runes are disabled for this mode, but otherwise it's business as usual.
Also new for multiplayer is support for private multiplayer matches. This allows you to create custom games, customizing what maps and modes you play, disabling Demon Runes, and so on.
Id Software is celebrating the update's release with a double XP weekend. This kicks off tomorrow, September 23, at 12 PM ET and runs until the same time on Monday, September 26.
As far as single-player content goes, there's not much here--this update mostly revolves around bug fixes, resolving crashes, freezes, animation issues, and other problems. You can see the full list of these, along with some improvements for SnapMap, in the patch notes below.
