Fundraiser Set Up for Shadow of Mordor Dev With Rare Form of Cancer

A fundraiser is currently taking place to support Michael "4G" Forgey, an executive producer at Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith Productions, who is currently being treated for a rare form of cancer.



Forgey, pictured with his familyAs recounted on this YouCaring page, Forgey visited a doctor in May due to a migraine. He learned that he was suffering from a rare form of cancer known as glioblastoma, which he has since undergone surgery for. However, the primary tumor is inoperable, which led to him undergoing a variety of other procedures. He's now exploring the possibility of other types of therapies.



Monolith is arranging an event tomorrow, December 22, called #ForForgey. The company is encouraging fans to play Shadow of Mordor, stream the game, and use the hashtag to spread awareness of Forgey's situation. It's also asking for donations for through the YouCaring page, which to date has raised more than $111,000 toward a $300,000 goal. The money will go toward medical expenses and supporting his children's future.



"Michael Forgey has touched countless lives with the games he's worked on," a message from Monolith reads. "His legendary will to make everything he touches better is the type of glue that holds studios like Monolith together. Thanks for your time, and we can't wait to see you all back in Mordor."



In addition to Shadow of Mordor, Forgey has also worked on the first two Gears of War games, Fable, and Conker.
