One of the best Skyrim survival mods on PC, Frostfall, comes to Xbox One

The Skyrim remaster isn't even out yet, and we're already seeing good PC mods get ported over to consoles.

Mod support on consoles is a big selling point for Skyrim: Special Edition. But, unlike Fallout 4, Skyrim mods have been maturing on PC for years.

Because porting mods from PCs to consoles is relatively simple, Xbox One and PS4 players will find a treasure trove of proven, community-approved mods that make the game infinitely better.

One such mod is already available on Xbox One. It's called Frostfall, and it's among the top rated survival mods for Skyrim. The mod adds three survival mechanics to the game that make things harsher. These are hypothermia, cold water survival, and camping.

“Frostfall tracks your location, weather, time of day, worn clothing, and more, to determine your current condition in a seamless way that feels easy to jump into and start playing. It is highly customisable, whether you're looking for a lightweight immersion enhancement or a deeper challenge,” reads the description.

Frostfall comes with 13 new spells, the new Endurance skill, snow and ice visual effects, new sounds and more. You even have control over whether or not you want to disable fast travel, for a more immersive experience.

Skyrim: Special Edition is out this Friday, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
