@Scozzese The game is solid and does what it’s supposed to do. It retells the story of the movie with a few minor changes. Still, it’s a lot of fun to explore, complete missions, decorate your office, and change outfits (features you’d only expect from main console games of the time).
The visuals are nice with pretty smooth animations, the music is genuinely enjoyable, and even the minigames are good—I’d say they’re a bit better than the usual basic tie-in game. What I appreciate most is how everything feels cohesive: the events, menus, and dialogues are all perfectly in line with the characters as they are in the movie and with the overall Bratz world.
One thing that I really disliked though, is how much grinding is required at one specific point in the story AND the post game (if you’re aiming for 100% completion). You’re often forced to replay minigames an excessive number of times. We’re talking about farming 500 Blingz per run when a single item can cost at least 2000. I focused on the rhythm-based minigame, where if you last long enough you can earn up to 9200 Blingz in one go. Even then, it still takes a lot of time...and imagine having to replay the same 10-minute minigame four times in a row. Come on.
Another issue I had is how easy it is to get stuck. There are several moments where, even though the notebook tells you what to do, it’s still not clear at all. For example, at one point it tells you to buy 8 pieces of furniture for the office: only two items are actually available, so you end up buying multiple copies of each, thinking that’s what the game wants. Then the mission doesn’t complete and the game won’t progress. At that point, you assume you’ve done something wrong and start wandering around aimlessly, until you eventually talk to a random NPC in a shop who triggers a minigame—and suddenly all your quests in the notebook change without even being marked as completed. There’s also a section where you’re supposed to take 4 photos of a location, but the way to do it is by pressing A on random, unmarked spots in the area…what?
I think these cons kinda affected how much I like this game, but I think it's still nice. However it's still much inferior to the console counterpart.
